Some 40 participants from different Ministries/Departments are attending the programme which emphasises on understanding the foundations and principles of protocol; explaining the importance of national symbols; and understanding protocol observations when hosting conferences, seminars and VIPs, amongst others. The Chief of Protocol and Senior Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade are the resource persons for the training.
Minister Sinatambou stated that this training will not only ease the pressure of his Protocol staff but most importantly will empower other civil servants in protocol observations as and when their Ministries/Departments host functions.
According to the Minister, such learning process has to be ongoing in the Civil Service and that this training programme is simply a piece of the process.
Government employees from different Ministries provide overwhelming quality service, however there is still a tiny minority who spoil the name and repute of the Civil Service.
For his part, Mr Hoolass stated that this is the second edition of the programme and it aims to update participants about protocol issues.
He stated that his Ministry is always striving to facilitate the human development of officers and soon the Civil Service College will be helping in this goal and offer training in various subjects to some 80 000 Government employees.
