City Urban Trail 2017

Cup of tea but not a piece of cake!

Some 600 runners enrolled for the City Urban Trail this year held on 18th of November. Parents and young trailers ran the 5km race through the streets of Port-Louis, while only adult trailers ran the 10km and 17km races under the shining stars.

Trails are becoming popular more than ever, gathering hundreds of runners across the island and surprisingly from UK, Spain, Reunion Island and South-Africa. Organisers along with sponsors, turned the CUT into a rather successful event. Night trails are fun and exciting, a new way to discover the hidden gems and unexpected challenges of the capital city at night: the old houses in the narrow cobbled streets, the steep climbs of Marie-Reine de la Paix and La

Citadelle, the smells of the stables by the Champs de Mars, the old bridges built during the colonial era…

Online enrolment starts at least 2 months prior to the event. Check www.roag.org If you intend to participate, make sure you get a headlamp. Safety jackets and goodies are offered upon registration. Participation fees range from £20 to £25. Races should generally be completed within 3 hours. Regular training is necessary for optimal performance. The 17km includes mountain climbing. Consider getting a proper meal as the sandwiches provided after the race are definitely not prepared by the best chefs.
