Flamboyant

Bouke Banane (New Year’s bouquet)

It’s the only time of the year that flamboyants also known as flame trees (Royal Poinciana), flower to illuminate gardens, alleys and roadsides announcing the new year! They stand majestically as Christmas trees during the holiday season. With their umbrella-like crown, flamboyants stand out in the lush tropical greenery offering a warm and festive uplifting atmosphere. They line coastal roads and blossom in warm regions of the island in different scenery.

Flamboyant can also be seen in Florida, Vietnam, Israel and a few more countries where they blossom at different times of the year. If you are coming to Mauritius in November and December, make sure you catch them blooming.
