Meeting With Trade Partners In Switzerland

With the aim to increase the number of swiss tourist arrivals to Mauritius Hon. Minister of Tourism and Leisure Michael Sik Yuen and Dr. Karl Mootoosamy met important Travel trade partners in cooperation with AVIAREPS on September 1st 2014.
During the first meeting with Emirates the focus was laid on the touristic diversity the island offers, beyond its gorgeous white-sand beaches and beautiful turquoise waters.
With the purpose to attract Swiss travelers to discover Mauritius as Family and Sport destination, the MTPA and Emirates will strategically cooperate on certain marketing and PR activities, to generate more Swiss visitors in order to achieve 15% increase until the end of this current calendar year.
Year to date, tourists arrivals from Switzerland grew positively compared with last year, thanks to the convenient connections from Geneva and Zurich via Dubai and Paris.
The Tourism Minister Michael Sik Yuen and MTPA’s Director Karl Mootoosamy also held meetings with two of the most important Swiss Tour Operators: Hotelplan & Manta Reisen (Indian Ocean Specialist of Kuoni Group).
They also highlighted that the first ever PGA Golf Tournament will be hosted in Mauritius in May 2015. The event shall be promoted through a publicity campaign on very important broadcasting channels such as CNN and BBC.
Since Golf is a major part of the Mauritius tourism strategy, the objective is to create a better awareness to sell the Island as a Golf destination in Switzerland.
Hotelplan reported excellent results, as their productions increased this year and they presented their new luxurious catalogue during the meeting.
The MTPA Mission in Switzerland included a business dinner with Manta Reisen. As one of the largest Tour Operator, they plan to organize a big FAM Trip with 50 travel agents next year as part of an eductour.
