From kitesurfing to lazing around on fine beaches, here’s what to do on a trip to Rodrigues.
Welcome to Rodrigues!
Rodrigues remains one of the safest destinations in the world. It has not yet been caught up by the consumerism disaster and simple pleasures of life remind us of its authenticity...
Eat like a local
The must-try dishes can be picked up at Mengoz Snack from Monday to Saturday between 10 am to 3 pm in Mont Lubin. If you are down in Port Sud-Est or in Port Mathurin, you can reach there by bus . It’s a half an hour trip. No trip is complete without octopus curry on corn rice. They also have vegan and vegetarian dishes.
Go on a hike
Grab your water bottle and towel and hike from Saint Francois to Trou D’Argent and discover the finest beaches in Rodrigues set in peaceful enclaves. The hiking path entrance is up the hill in Saint Francois.
Two nice viewpoints in Rodrigues are firstly the one above Port-Mathurin as you drive to Citronnelle, opposite the weather station and the second one is all along the way to Port Sud-Est. The dominating view on the ocean with shades of blue is breathtaking.
SUP and Kitesurf
If you enjoy watersports, this is the place for you. It’s the best spot for SUP and kitesurf. It is possible to hire and book at either Mourouk Hotel’s club or at one of the clubs on Mourouk beach.
The Great Cave
A good opportunity to learn about the history of Rodrigues and its people is to stop for a guided visit at Francois Leguat Park in Anse Quitor.
