Located at 12 Saint Louis Street in Port Louis lies The Artelier, home to the Coffee of the Workshop and the Literary Workshop.
The Artelier is a café and a bookshop in the shade of a century-old warehouse with exposed stone walls, stripped of their former limestone gangue lying a hundred times.
The interior of The Artelier consists of basalt and wood, decorated with frosted metal, clings to the movement of time and borrows factory air.
The ground floor has a canteen while the mezzanine hangs on the wall as the gangway of a ship. It hosts open shelves where a selected literature fills the mind.
Insiders will discuss “reference library” and interested there will also discover local authors: historians, novelists, poets, essayists, photographers, painters.
Down The walls are often picture rails, inviting colors all in rainbows. The walls are decorated with the pictures of writers, actors, singers, debaters.
At The Artelier, one not only finds a cafe’ of uniqueness, one also finds a journey back to yesteryear.
