years ago on this day, in 1835, slavery was abolished in Mauritius. This was as
a result of a vote of the Slavery Abolition Act by the British Parliament. The
act was implement on the 1st of February 1835 and Mauritius
celebrates the abolition of slavery on the island through commemorative events.
