Sino-Mauritian cuisine is very popular locally. We all love fried noodles, fried rice, Pekin duck and steamed fish. You can eat Chinese food practically everywhere across the island.
However, on the south-west coast, it’s not easy to find a local ‘snack,’ offering Sino-Mauritian cuisine unless you drive down to Petite Riviere Noire to Apo.
We love Apo
Apo is located on the main road in Petite Riviere Noire. It’s a local restaurant with a Chinese chef who’s been here for a while now. It’s all in red and black. Quite minimalistic. The walls are covered with Chinese newspapers and the service is pleasant. We tried the pekin duck and the steamed fish.
They were generously served with mini pancakes, rice and vegetables. Apo does not sell alcoholic drinks, but you can bring your own.
